At Encanto Caribe Musical, our children’s programs are designed to provide young learners with an engaging and educational introduction to the vibrant world of Caribbean music and dance. These programs aim to teach children not only the rhythms and steps but also the cultural significance behind the dances, fostering a deeper appreciation for Caribbean traditions.
What We Offer:
- Music Classes:
In our music classes, children will explore Caribbean instruments like the tambora, caja, guacharaca, and others, learning how to play traditional rhythms. Our focus is on rhythm, melody, and understanding the connection between music and movement, with an emphasis on the festive beats of the Barranquilla Carnival and other Caribbean styles like salsa, merengue, and cumbia. - Dance Classes:
Our dance classes introduce children to iconic Caribbean dances such as cumbia, mapalé, and the lively dances from the Barranquilla Carnival, including the energetic and colorful movements of the Carnival parade. They will also learn other dances like salsa and merengue, which are integral to Caribbean culture. - Performance Opportunities:
Throughout the year, we host student performances where children can showcase the skills they’ve learned. These performances are a great way for students to gain confidence, celebrate their culture, and share their progress with family and friends. - Cultural Education:
Alongside the music and dance instruction, children will have the opportunity to learn about the history and cultural significance of the Caribbean rhythms they are studying. They’ll understand the stories and traditions that these music and dance forms represent, deepening their connection to the culture.
